The Volvo Group UK ‘Jim Keyden’ Award 2014, which is awarded to the graduating Apprentice of the Year, has been won by Billy Lang from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North & Scotland, Glasgow East.

The prestigious trophy was presented to Billy Lang by Volvo Group UK’s Managing Director Arne Knaben at the annual Training Awards ceremony, held this year at Stephenson College, Coalville, which is home to the Volvo Trucks Apprentice Programme.

The ‘Jim Keyden’ Award was inaugurated in 2008. The award is made to the Graduating Apprentice of the Year. Its name honours Jim Keyden who - together with Jim McKelvie - was one of the founders of the Volvo Truck and Bus organisation in the UK.

RHA launches competition to highlight the benefits of Driver CPC training

Well-run haulage firms are taking control of the Driver CPC and making it part-and-parcel of their operation. That’s the firm opinion of the Road Haulage Association.

Quality firms of any significant size will be doing annual training as a matter of policy, and it recommends that approach to the whole industry.

“RHA members are talking more and more about the value of DCPC training to their businesses and planning the courses that will best suit them,” said RHA Director of Policy, Jack Semple.

With only 117 of this limited edition model available in the UK, the Caddy Edition 30 is also exclusive. The striking exterior follows the design cues of other sporty Volkswagen vans, such as the Transporter Sportline, and it is distinguished by a black roof and roof rails contrasting against Candy White paint work, with body-coloured bumpers, door handles and door mirrors, plus chrome grille detailing, 17-inch ‘Budapest’ alloy wheels and Edition 30 logo on the door sills and exterior.
